Personal Development
At Orleans Primary, personal development is at the heart of everything we do. OFSTED rated this area as Outstanding, highlighting the school’s success in nurturing confident, courteous and resilient pupils. From Nursery through to Year 6, children are encouraged to develop social, emotional and moral awareness alongside their academic learning. Children learn to take responsibility for themselves and their community, developing respect, empathy and a strong sense of right and wrong.
Our pupils enjoy a wide range of enrichment opportunities that bring learning to life and broaden their horizons. They participate in trips to farms, museums and residential visits, explore music through the school orchestra and workshops and engage in projects such as caring for the school allotment and chickens. Older pupils support younger children, take on leadership roles and contribute to school life through house teams and school council initiatives. These experiences build teamwork, independence, and confidence.
Health, wellbeing, and safety are central to our approach. Pupils are taught how to make healthy choices, understand the importance of mental and physical wellbeing, and stay safe, including online. Equality and diversity are celebrated throughout the school, helping pupils develop a respectful understanding of different cultures and perspectives. As one pupil said,
“Wherever you are from, and whoever you are, the school welcomes you with open arms.”
At Orleans, we strive to ensure every child grows into a well-rounded, thoughtful and resilient learner, fully prepared for life beyond primary school.
