Responsibility

Mike Dormer, LA governor (FGB Chair of Governors)

BAPD,  QE and FP&P

These are challenging times for education, but I am convinced that with strong leadership successful community schools like Orleans Primary will continue to thrive.

In 2012 I volunteered as a governor at Chase Bridge Primary, taking over as Chair of Governors there in 2020. When my term finished, I joined the Orleans Governing Board and took on the role of Chair in July 2025. I am delighted to now be part of the Orleans Primary School community; I live in St Margarets and have known the school for many years.

I am a television drama producer and continue to work on shows for broadcasters and the streamers. Until recently I also ran an MA Producing course at Royal Holloway University of London.

I joined the governing board because I wanted to support the school in it's vision and mission of 'a love of learning, for life, for all'. I believe that this is critical to support children to flourish in the ever changing world around them. My background is in psychology and Human Resources (HR) with expertise in leadership and organisational development, workforce planning, wellbeing and sustainability. I enjoy working with diverse and international communities and organisations.I live locally in St Margarets and am proud to also have a daughter at Orleans Primary school too.  Foundation subjects

Rob Long, Co-opted governor

QE (Vice-Chair)

I have seen what a wonderful and supportive school Orleans Primary is at first hand over the last 9 years, as both my daughters have proceeded from Reception to Year 6 and onward. I was delighted to take the opportunity to become a governor of the school during 2023 in the hope that the skills I have learned through a career in strategy and transformation in the investment management sector would prove useful.

I am very much enjoying my time as a governor and my particular focus on early years provision (EYFS). I have also gained an even deeper admiration for the hard work, dedication and expertise of all of the school staff.

BAPD (Chair), QE I've lived in St Margarets for over 30 years with my wife, Mandy.  Two of my three sons have all been educated here in Twickenham and my other son who has profound learning and physical disabilities led to me leaving my job as a solictor to become his full-time carer and a local campaigner for disability rights for both children and young adults.  I've been a trustee of Richmond Mencap for the last 10 years and have been one of The Richmond Junk Food Project's collectors for the last eight.  I am proud to be the School's SEND and Inclusion Governor. Balsheel Beeharry,

Co-opted governor

QE

After 15 years in senior corporate roles across the FMCG, tobacco, and financial sectors locally and internationally, and with a solid educational background including an MBA, I retrained as a teacher and now teach Business and Economics in a leading secondary school within the independent sector. I also lead the school’s award-winning Young Enterprise programme with consecutive successes in Richmond and Kingston. With many schools facing increasing pressures around resources, inclusion, and preparing children for an ever-changing world, strong governance and community support are vital to help schools continue to thrive and I aim to bring both my corporate and classroom experience to support Orleans Primary School’s growth, adaptability and continued pupil happiness and success.

I am delighted to be a school governor for Orleans Primary School. Having attended the school myself, I have a deep-rooted connection to the community and a strong understanding of its needs. I am a Human Resources professional at one of the Big Four consulting firms, specialising in employee benefits and Reward. My experience working with diverse teams and my passion for equality and diversity, particularly for ethnic minority representation in predominantly white, middle-class areas, will allow me to be a strong voice for all pupils.
