At Orleans Primary School we aim to provide a happy, stimulating and secure community for every child. This, in conjunction with a rich and challenging learning experience, will ensure that all children reach their full potential, both emotionally and physically, and are completely prepared to take their place in our diverse world.

Everyone who works in our school is valued as an individual and staff work as a team, sharing expertise, knowledge and skills. Orleans strongly values the partnership between home, school and community.

We take pride in our offering of a broad, academic and ambitious curriculum for our children, grounded in our core school values. These core values: Excellence, Responsibility, Collaboration and Compassion are fundamental to our school life and to our provision of an inclusive and engaging environment that instils a love of learning, for life, for all. 

Excellence
Excellence, capturing our commitment to the highest standards of academic achievement, personal development, and continuous growth. This value continues to reflect confidence in one’s abilities, self-esteem, and the pursuit of enjoyment in learning, ensuring every child has the support to reach their full potential.

Responsibility
 It encompasses personal accountability for one’s own learning, actions, and well-being, as well as a sense of independence. Additionally, responsibility extends to how we contribute to our community and environment, promoting a culture of respect for others and a sense of shared responsibility.

Collaboration
We believe that by working together—whether in the classroom, with families, or as a whole school community—pupils, teachers, and parents can create an environment where everyone thrives. Respect for others and a shared goal of mutual success are essential to fostering strong, supportive relationships both inside and outside the school.

Compassion
Compassion brings together our focus on respect and safety, while extending our commitment to kindness, empathy, and inclusion. It emphasises the importance of understanding and caring for others, ensuring every child feels safe, valued, and included. Compassion is central to our work on equality, diversity, and inclusion, and it reinforces the sense of belonging that we strive to create in our school. In addition, our principal aims are to:

• Instil in our pupils the ability to be effective learners and take ownership of their learning;

• Ensure children have the confidence to take risks;

• Provide children with a positive self-image;

• Develop a sense of personal responsibility and encourage high standards of behaviour;

• Help children learn to celebrate their achievements, recognise individual success and develop resilience;
