Sport is an important part of our ethos at Orleans Primary school and as part of this we are keen to include as many children as possible in Sport Leadership roles. Usually, 10 children from Year 6 are selected to become our new Sports Leaders. This year, in line with current restrictions, our format is slightly altered. Year 5 children will be trained in the Spring term and Sports Leaders elected ready to begin their roles in the Summer.
Training includes experiences of a variety of different playground games and children are given time to try some of these out. Sports Leaders, who will be easily identifiable in their high visibility jackets, will run and support other children in new games and staying active whilst having fun.
New Sports Leaders will be introduced in an assembly where their role will be outlined and how the pupils can get the most out of it. Staff will work alongside Mrs Jones and Miss Verge, who will be monitoring the success of this programme, to ensure that as many children as possible are able to interact with this new and exciting concept.
